Mash Up Monday - Banana Split Ice Cream

I'm so excited.
And I just cant hide it.
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it!

Seriously.
Not lying.

Who doesn't love a banana split?
Most of the food groups are involved so its good for you right?
Fruit
Dairy
Chocolate
Nuts
This is a mash up if I do say so myself - its all rolled into one bowl!  You can even make the bowl as big or as small as you'd like.

One of my favorite Blizzards from Dairy Queen (which is not publicly announced on their menu board) is the banana split blizzard.
Why not recreate it at home?

DONE
Enjoy drooling!

I'm Seriously Listening to - I'm So Excited - The Pointer Sisters

Banana Split Ice Cream
1 c. milk
2 c. half and half cream
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 vanilla bean
1 ripe but firm banana
1/4 c. frozen strawberries
1/4 c. canned pineapple chunks
20-30 maraschino cherries
chocolate syrup

Start by mixing the milk, cream and sugar together (some like to warm it to dissolve the sugar, I didn't do that).
Split the vanilla bean in half and scrape the seeds into the milk.
Put this mixture into your ice cream maker for the recommended allotted time.

Cut your banana in half and then again in half, then dice it up.  Mix this with the pineapple chunks and set in the freezer for 5 - 10 minutes.  Do the same with the cherries.
I freeze strawberries each season so I took a few out, cracked them a few times with a meat mallet (in a baggie of course) and added that to the banana/pineapple mixture to chill.

With about 8-10 minutes left in your mixing, add the ingredients and continue to mix.
Store in an airtight container in the freezer.
Before serving, let sit in room temp for 10 minutes or so.
Enjoy!

  1. Great recipe. Perfect for a hot day. It's 9pm and still 103 degrees. Today's high was 110. Great recipe to cool down.
