Ode To Green Beans Continues

I picked up more beans at the market on Friday.
Que'll surprise.
I'm obsessed.

Wanting to change things up a bit I went southern style.

BATTERED
FRIED

Got your attention?
Maybe this will.

We don't deep fry much (anymore), we don't even pan fry that often either, so this was more of a treat.
A delicious, crispy, side treat.
We paired this with chicken fingers which was first marinated in HeluvaGood dip and milk - uh YUM.

I'm Listening To: Hella Good - No Doubt  Thanks for the recommendation Learn, Laugh, Cook!

Fried Green/Yellow Bean Bundles

1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. seasoning salt
1 tsp. fresh cracked pepper
1 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. garlic powder
Green onions
30-40 green/yellow beans

Trim and wash green beans.
Bundle about 5 beans together securing with green onions cut into strips.

In a pie plate mix together dry ingredients.
Meanwhile, in another shallow dish combine buttermilk (1 c. milk with 1 tbsp. lemon juice) seasoning salt and pepper.

Dip your bean bundles in the milk

Dredge in flour and repeat the step once more

If you have a deep fryer like we do set to 360F if not, you can use a cast iron pot or another that is deep - safety first!
These only take a few minutes to turn brown.
Drain and serve immediately :)

  1. Yum!! We don't deep fry much anymore either! But this sounds like it might be worth dragging out the fryer for!

  2. I liked how you used both yellow and green beans -- very pretty and very tasty, I'm sure! Thanks for "Southern-izing" them. :)
